Primary PE and Sport Premium 2025–2026
Key Indicator 1 – The Engagement of All Pupils in Regular Physical Activity
Throughout 2025–2026, our PE and Sport Premium funding has been used to increase opportunities for all pupils to be physically active every day. Investment in sensory circuits equipment has enhanced provision for pupils with SEND, supporting movement, coordination, self-regulation and readiness to learn. Improvements to the astroturf football pitches and active play equipment have created engaging outdoor environments that encourage pupils to be active during breaktimes and lunchtimes. The Daily Mile continues to be embedded across the school, providing every child with a regular opportunity to improve their fitness and wellbeing. Additional sports equipment, including bibs, has supported organised games and structured physical activities before school, during lunchtimes and through after-school provision. These initiatives have contributed to improved physical fitness, increased participation, better behaviour and greater emotional wellbeing. The school will continue to maintain equipment and embed these opportunities to ensure that physical activity remains a central part of everyday school life.
Key Indicator 2 – The Profile of PE and Sport Being Raised Across the School
Physical education and school sport continue to play an important role in the life of our school. Intra-house competitions have provided opportunities for all pupils to experience friendly competition and represent their teams. Sporting achievements are celebrated regularly through assemblies, certificates and awards, helping to raise aspirations and recognise individual effort, teamwork and perseverance. Pupils have also been encouraged to take on leadership responsibilities through sports leadership roles, developing confidence, communication skills and a sense of responsibility. These opportunities have increased participation and enthusiasm for PE and sport across the school. During the coming year, we aim to expand leadership opportunities further and increase the number of competitive events available to pupils.
Key Indicator 3 – Increased Confidence, Knowledge and Skills of All Staff in Teaching PE and Sport
A significant proportion of the funding has been invested in improving the quality of PE teaching across the school through specialist coaching and professional development. A qualified PE coach has worked alongside teachers to model high-quality lessons, develop subject knowledge and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring. This collaborative approach has increased teacher confidence and improved the consistency and quality of PE provision across all year groups. Targeted sessions have also ensured that pupils with SEND receive high-quality, inclusive teaching which meets their individual needs. Investment in planning and assessment resources has supported staff in delivering a broad, progressive and well-sequenced curriculum. These improvements will continue to have a lasting impact as staff build on their knowledge and expertise to sustain high-quality PE teaching in future years.
Key Indicator 4 – Broader Experience of a Range of Sports and Physical Activities
Our PE and Sport Premium funding has enabled pupils to access a wider variety of physical activities beyond the National Curriculum. Contributions towards Forest School provision have encouraged outdoor learning, resilience, teamwork and physical development within natural environments. Additional inclusive sports equipment has ensured that pupils of all abilities can participate successfully in PE and physical activity. The purchase of balance bikes has strengthened early physical development in EYFS and Key Stage 1, improving balance, coordination and confidence while promoting enjoyment of active learning. These opportunities have broadened pupils' experiences and encouraged greater participation in lifelong physical activity. We will continue to develop our outdoor learning programme and inclusive provision to ensure every child benefits from a varied and engaging PE curriculum.
Key Indicator 5 – Increased Participation in Competitive Sport
The school has continued to provide a wide range of opportunities for pupils to participate in competitive sport throughout the year. Working closely with local School Games and PE networks has enabled pupils to take part in festivals, competitions and sporting events against other schools. Funding has supported transport, staffing and the delivery of breakfast, lunchtime and after-school clubs, ensuring that competitive opportunities are accessible to as many pupils as possible, including pupils with SEND. Participation in competitive sport has developed teamwork, resilience, confidence and sporting values while increasing pupils' enjoyment of physical activity. The school will continue to strengthen links with local partnerships and further develop its programme of internal and external competitions during the next academic year.
