It’s a place to celebrate our achievements and stay connected. We hope this blog becomes a fun space for everyone to stay updated on what’s happening in our class!

TRANSITION

Getting Ready for High School
As we approach the end of Year 6, it's time to start thinking about the exciting move to high school! Transition can feel like a big step, but it’s also a chance for your child to grow, make new friends and explore new opportunities.

Below are some tips on how you can support your child during this time:

  • Talk openly: Give your child time to share their feelings, questions and any worries about starting high school.
  • Practice the journey: Do a trial run of the route to school together so it feels familiar in September.
  • Get organised early: Make a checklist of what your child will need (uniform, PE kit, stationery) and tick things off gradually.
  • Encourage independence: Let your child take small steps, like packing their own bag or organising their homework space.
  • Stay positive: Share your own experiences and highlight the exciting parts of starting a new chapter.
  • Keep in touch with school: Make sure you're aware of transition days, parent meetings and any useful information from your child’s new school.

In our unit of work this term, the children have been continuing their journey of visual programming and using Scratch. The children are in the process of creating their own version of the popular app Crossy Roads by creating graphics and programming within Scratch. The children have demonstrated excellent resilience when met with challenges and have been working well to support each other when debugging any codes. Well done Year 6!
