At Higher Openshaw Community School, we aim to deliver an engaging, practical and problem solving based Design Technology curriculum and to offer children a chance to use creative thinking, where they follow a design, make and evaluate system. Technology of the modern world is rapidly changing and at HOCS, we aim to prepare the children in advance for this. This year, the school are using the 'Project on a Page' scheme outlined by The Design and Technology Association. This scheme was introduced in 2014 to help primary schools in England implement the National Curriculum for D&T in an imaginative way. It is based on the universal principles of effective teaching and learning in D&T. Examples can be found below.
